SWIM MEETS & PARENT PARTIES

THIS IS YOUR WAKE-UP CALL! 7am TEAM PICTURE & LV MEET, SAT., 6/5: Alison Winder, Picture Day Coordinator, reminds us that Shooting Stars productions will be at our TL pool June 5th for the ORCA Picture Day! For those of you who are unfamiliar with this group, they do a very nice job on the group, individual and buddy photos.

The team photo will be taken before the home meet against Lucas Valley. All swimmers and coaches are to be ready at 7:00 AM SHARP for the Orcas team photo on the basketball court area. This means that the swimmers must get to the pool before 7 AM to get ready.  Orca "gear" or team racing suits should be worn.

Since the team photo will be taken before warm-ups (both TL and LV), it is imperative that we be on time. If your swimmer is late, his or her face will not be "photo-shopped" or otherwise digitally inserted into the photograph! (EDITOR’S NOTE: IF YOU CHOOSE TO SNOOZE OR WATCH MORNING NEWS, YOU LOSE!)

Individual and "buddy" photos will be taken through the morning while the meet is in progress. It is your responsibility to get your children and the order form to the photo check-in table. There will not be any late or make-up photo opportunities. You will receive an envelope for ordering photographs in your parent folder week of 5/31.

If you have any questions, contact her at: winderland1@yahoo.com or at 479-1555.  Thank you for your cooperation.

SIGN UP FOR EVENTS WELL IN ADVANCE: Carol O’Connell, 9/10 Mom Coordinator, reminds all Orcas to sign up well in advance for upcoming meets. This is especially important for families new to the Orcas this year. The sign-up book is at the pool Mondays and Tuesdays, then it’s needed by the coaches for each swimmers’ seeding.

NEXT HOME MEET: ROLLING HILLS, SAT., 6/12 –– Our fourth consecutive home meet will be next week. Be here by 730 for practice. Meet begins at 830. Should be over by 1pm. Will the Orcas continue to swamp the other swimmers? Will our home meet win streak remain intact? Tune in, jump in and find out on June 12th.

GO ORCAS!!!

PRESIDENT’S CORNER, By Lisa Claiborne  & Jim Rogers

Our practice season has shown just how awesome you ORCAs are. We have had outstanding attendance at practice and some highly productive clinics. Beginning this week, we will have more pool lanes available to us at all practices so there won’t be as much inadvertent kicking and crashing in the lanes!  Our 1st home meets exhibited to all of us the great accomplishments of our swimmers, with over 170 best times at each meet.

We would like to extend a huge welcome to our high school swimmers who have recently joined us after the completion of their high school competition.  Our team totals are now as follows:  8 & Unders: 64, 9-10s: 62,  11-12s: 41, 13-14s: 28, and 15-18s: 15.

Our grand total is 210 ORCA swimmers!

Get ready for more exciting competition. Parents, both “veteran” and “rookie”, ask lots of questions and CHEER for your swimmers.  Swimmers, do your best and CHEER for your teammates!  Most importantly, come to the practices and meets with a good attitude and HAVE FUN!

Lisa and Jim

SO LONG, SWIMARIN. Happy trails to our friends –– as they shift to practicing at the TL High School pool –– until we meet again on 7/10 at our final home meet.

JAMBA JUICE GIFT CERTIFICATES are now being awarded  to any swimmer who achieves 3 best times in a single meet. They’ve been awarded for the Tidalwaves meet, and will soon be awarded for the Novato meet and each meet thereafter. Remember that in order to get a best time, you must already have a time in that event from this season. First time swims don’t count!  So, get 3 best times and you can get a free Jamba Juice! Many thanks to Jamba Juice for making this possible for us.

"SWIMMERS OF THE WEEK.” These swimmers have been chosen by the coaches to be recognized each week for their outstanding effort during that week’s practice or meet. Photos of the three weekly winners are prominently displayed the following week for all to see. Be sure to check out the poolside display case each week for new “swimmers of the week.”  The next picture up there could be YOURS.
