Graduating and Ten Year Swimmers

Terra Linda Orcas Swim Team

Tim Baker and Gabrielle Dembski are graduating seniors who are swimming their last season for the Orcas. They have played leadership roles on the team both on and off the pool deck. Both are highly skilled and dedicated swimmers and good students. Tim leads the Orcas the free, back, fly and IM strokes for 15-18 boys. Gabrielle won first place in the breaststroke at All Stars last year, an event that she counts as one of the highlights of her career on the Orcas. Tim has been accepted to Cal Poly where he will study engineering this fall. Gabriel will attend UC Davis this fall.

Other ten-year Orcas include the following swimmers: Jon Namnath. The Spaulding-Namnath family has been part of the Orcas for over 15 years and currently has three swimmers on the team. They are our most senior Orca family. Casey Coburn has enjoyed swimming since she learned how to swim in her backyard pool and counts beating rival Marinwood Waterdevils for the first time in ten years as a high point. Katie Russell joined the Orcas initially just to have fun. Katie has been a championship swimmer leading the County in the butterfly. Last year Katie came in first place at championships for 13/14 butterfly.. Her highlight of the past ten years was being part of a relay team at championships last year that was expected to come in third place, but came in first place as well. Katie is also a nationally ranked gymnast. Leading cheers and being with friends at swim meets are the high points for Ryan Farman as is a team trip to Great America. Staying in shape, and a trip to Great America were highlights for Robby Song-Hill as was winning the All Stars in breaststroke when he was 8 years old.. For Chris Reisinger, being paired with an older Orca in the buddy program stands out as a memorable experience. Other ten year swimmers include Lauren Bohm and Eric Bartesch. The following quotes sum up the sentiments of the ten year swimmers

"I joined the Orcas because my mom thought it would be a fun thing to do. I really grew to like it, especially hanging out with my friends at meets." Katie Russell

"My favorite thing about the Orcas is having fun with my friends at swim meets. The friendships have been the best thing about the Orcas"  Sean Emadzadeh.

"I like all of my friends, having team rivalries and that Orca spirit!" Casey Coburn

"What I like most about being on the Orcas is being able to swim regularly, stay in shape and hang out with friends. Orcas mean summertime!" Robby Song-Hill
